Oh what a bad day i had on tuesday, totally over slept so was 2hrs late for work then got home and brought Lux in to lunge him, he was a good boy then gave him a bath and decided to turn him back out. Farrier arrived to do Ellies feet (he was putting pads on her fronts so i can ride again as she has been really sore) so i went up the field to bring her in and left the boys together. BIG MISTAKE they decided they wanted to sort out who was boss

In the process of this Lux bucked by the fence and landed with his hind legs on the wrong side

he proceeded to turn round so now had his back legs twisted in the fence and fell over. Poor man couldnt get up he knew he was stuck and just sat there i didnt know what to do, the other 2 horses (in field next door to mine) were being brought in at the time they paniced in the mayhem and got lose (one slipped into the ditch and cut his leg) Lux decide to try one last time to get up and succeded but paniced and ran off with the fence still attached to him, thankfully it came off him in the end. When calm was resumed i checked him over and he had just a small scrap which i dealt with but yesterday morning i got down and it was all swollen and hot and he was really stiff so i cold hosed again and turned him out hoping just body doing its healing thing but he was so stiff I think he's pulled some muscles in the process.
On my return from work i yesterday i went up the field right away to check on him and he wasnt good

he woudlnt walk to come in (we did get there eventually) so i cold hosed him again and gave him sugarbeet with some bute in. I knew in my mind the vet was going to have to come so i thought i'd give him and hour see what the bute does to his mobility, but it was no better so i called the vet.
Vet arrived and checked him over he is hoping its just mucsclar but has said that the swelling & heat in his near hind as its not with cut (at the front of the canon bone) and running down back of leg it could be that he's done his suspensory ligament & that the lameness in his off hind that is very high up in hip/pelvis could possibly be a fracture!!!!!!! Bloody horses!! He cant say more than that for now due to the amount of swelling and lack of mobility he has but if no improvement by the weekend then he needs to be taken in for xrays & bone scan

youngsters!! who'd have them

what a complete numpty. hope he's ok and that it was all superficial bruising etc .my youngster (well he's nearly 5 now) is a pillock as well - reared up the other day with me on him and whilst hopping around on back legs fell backwards into a ditch with me still on top- monster.

Oh poor you - ((hugs)) from here as well. I do sympathise. Mine is at the vet at the moment being ultra sounded for a tendon problem that was caused by a kick to her hock. Honestly you do wonder sometimes.....

O Poor thing! I hope he is feeling better soon. Fingers crossed he hasn't done too much damage. Mine youngster (4yrs) injured her self 2 months ago quite badly, it really does wonder why we have them!!!
