Looking into getting a little winter project to event whilst i’m doing my last few seasons on ponies.
The price of young connies and sports ponies are far too much for my budget, so was wondering if there’s any good “sports” welsh D breeding to look out for? I have some close friends that have pony trialled their D’s (hence my liking for them, I’ve ridden round some big training tracks on a few of them and got along very well). Thanks

No idea but you would be best looking at the studs that breed them a bit bigger to get height and ground cover-ability to Make the times. I might give my boy a go at it as he’s rather tall already but we won’t be making a serious effort, he’s just to be my bit of everything and nothing pony ?

Thank you!! A friend at my yard has a lovely Welsh D 4yo who is is certainly upto height and seems a bit finer than her rest. I have wanted to ask about him for a while but feel a bit cheeky to ask to buy her pony??

Welsh x sports might be an option? Mine in profile pic is definitely sporty enough. Whether you have sense of humour enough is entirely another question!

I have a lovely Maesmynach mare - about 15'3 and very happy to jump, school and do most things. Many of the Maesmynachs grow bigger too! She, in fact is not the speediest across the ground being somewhat more baroque in her movement (which I like actually) but that stud breeds several types so it is worth enquiring with them. Eric and Nicola are excellent at finding the right type for what you need and they have lovely, lovely stock as do the Llanarth stud who are also very friendly and welcoming. Welshies can be something of an acquired taste as they can be strong minded but huge amounts of fun!!

We have the most wonderful, sporty, scopey 14.2 Welsh D. My teenage son has done SJ, XC, HTs and a couple of ODEs on him and he's been a wee star! I can look up his breeding, but his passport is out in the tack room and I'm cosy by the fire... Plus, we're mid-powercut, so I'd have to go out by candle light! I'll find it in the morning x
