My wallet is never going to forgive me for this!

I had the saddler out today with a selection of second hand jumping and dressage saddles - as the albion k2 jumping that I bought as a temporary measure is still slightly too wide, and moving too much at the back.

So we started with various jumping saddles - keiffers, pessoas, GFS, prestige ... none of these were right, so it boiled down to a Stubben Siegfried (seems to magically fit anything...) and a butet close contact. Stubben was a good fit, but Butet was a beautiful fit, and cheaper too - £499 second hand, which I believe for a butet isn't too bad a price

Was absolutely beautiful to ride in. Here's hoping it makes me un-unseatable like andrew nicholson!

And then the bit that I won't be telling the OH ... I was just 'looking' at dressage saddles, tried a few - kieffer, jeffries, ideal, albion - none of those fitted ... but the Prestige fitted like a glove.. and then it felt so great to ride in, that I just couldn't stop myself getting out the cheque book again

beans on toast for the rest of eternity i think...

this prestige is a 'top dressage SP' I think - but a few years old. Big blocks and deep seat, really puts you in the right place, but not so much that it made me tense - just felt very supportive, and instantly let me drop right down to dressage length, even on a horse that is quite narrow and small.

There is a lot of wither clearance - so suits bony TB well, and she was really moving in the trot, so she must have been appreciating it.

Wowza lucky you!! thats a mega deal bargain on a butet! Neighbour of mine got on for her 18th birthday - made to measure all the bits and bobs and extras from Sederholm Select the bill came well over £2350!!!!

I for one didn't expect to be buying a butet saddle today... always something i've thought of as being very nice, but completely and utterly out of my price range. This one is well used and does have a little tear on the knee roll, but at about 1/5th of the original price, it would seem, I can't complain

I fully expected to get a stubben saddle - I am long in the leg, and stubbens are so often good on high withered types... and although it did fit, as the saddler said - the butet is just a completely different class of saddle.

Totally agree!! - Ive a Fusion Pro Onyx - made in the same place - by same people.... for under half price! Lush saddle!
