Lost my old boy at 27yrs on Tuesday. He’d been diagnosed with uveitis the previous Wednesday and then managed to fracture a pastern in the field a few days later. Up until then he was fat, shiny and full of beans I will miss him dreadfully.
The sun has finally set on you my gorgeous Solly Sunshine aka “Solly Poppins, practically perfect in every way” I can honestly say that in 17 years there was never a day when I didn’t look forward to seeing you. Yes I know you upset me at times with your naughty shenanigans but you only had to give me that loving cheeky look and all was forgiven. In my eyes you were the most beautiful thing I had ever seen and we had some fantastic adventures together. You were my comfort after my mum died and you’ve seen me from my mid-thirties to my fifties. You carried me through many of life’s ups and downs and were a constant that made me have to get up every day even on days I didn’t want to. When your ginger brother Edward arrived you were most put out when I gave him the better grass (as he wasn’t as fat as you- that didn’t last!} and threw a tantrum when you saw him in your paddock. But then you became best buddies and I am so thankful that you had each other. We are both heartbroken and will miss you dreadfully but I feel so lucky to have had you in my life for so long. Goodbye my bestest Sol mate you will be in my heart forever.
