Made the decision today to let go of my 14yo staffy. She had been given to xmas by vet and she really enjoyed herself eating and being merry, and since then has gone down hill. With the vets closing for New Years I thought it best to get it done now rather than risk a few more days of her being poorly.

Heartbroken.

I'm sorry to read this but can see exactly why you made the decision now. 14 is a good age, you have obviously given her excellent care during her lifetime.
Is there no emergency cover at your vets for the Bank Holiday?

There probably is but she was ready to go and keeping her longer would have just been for my own benefit and I would never do that.

It’s an horrible thing to go through , the price we pay for having them .
I have a twelve and fourteen year old so these threads chill my heart .
Look after yourself and remember the good times .
