Last week I very sadly had to make the decision to put Phineas, my beloved guinea pig, to sleep. Some of you will remember he was the piggie who had a very strong bond with my cat and they regularly spent time together.
Phineas developed a mass on his side and had stopped cleaning himself and after a vet visit, he was found to have a kidney tumour and was given probably 4 weeks to live. Rather than subject him to his last weeks uncomfortable and unable to clean, I made the decision to put him to sleep.
He was only 3 and a half and the most gentle and loving piggie

So then I was left with a very lonely cat who kept lying in his cage on her own. I also couldn’t believe how empty the house felt without Phin.
I toyed with getting another couple of guineas, but my last 4 have died relatively young of tumours or cancer. So during my browsing of adverts, I came across a litter of mini lop rabbits. I chatted to my friend who has lops and then dropped this person a message about having a couple from the litter. Unfortunately there was only one left as the others had already found homes. The breeder sent me a photo of him and I just knew I had to have him.
So mum and I trotted off to collect him on Sunday. We both took one look at him and fell in love!
So I’d like to introduce Jive “JB” Bunny!

He’s 8 weeks old and absolutely tiny, but already settling in well. He is going to have the run of upstairs but for now he’s contained to my room alternating between his house and his playpen while he grows a bit more and gets fully litter trained (he’s mostly there already, the breeder did a super job with it).
The plan is to get him a bunny friend but I’m just trying to find something suitable. He will obviously be getting neutered. As expected though, my cat is already bonding with him, but obviously for now I’m only allowing interactions while I am there. So far so good though. JB is a very relaxed chap and I’m enjoying getting to know him
