Hi All,

I am new here so a big hello :)

I have booked some plane tickets to go to the November 26th Irish Draught Sale at Goresbridge, I apologise if there is already a post about this! I have noticed a few but none specifically about the Irish Draught Sale.

Does anyone have an idea of the prices they sell for here? Any good/bad experiences ?

Thanks :)

In fact if anyone has any comments on the Irish Draught as a breed as this will be my first horse! (Ridden for many years and currently Chair of a University Equestrian Team, loaned a few in the past but never an ID, i just love the look of them and from what i have heard their temperaments too! ) x

Have a look on the breeding part of this forum (sep section), there are plenty of comments about ID. If you search for JanetGeorge - she breeds really nice IDs in the UK and is a wealth of knowledge.

Must be really exciting to go to Gorsbridge - however just a thought but if you don't know much about ID's or their breeding what made you decide to kick off with going to buy one from a sale? The times of finding a really really nice cheap youngster in Ireland are long gone if that was the thinking (which would make sense). A well bred ID will fetc good money nowadays as they are actually not that easy to find. I would check with the auctioneers to see what the fine print is - ie. warranty, horse passported? DNA? microchipped? what come back do you have? is there a vet on site? I would love to go and have a look and am a huge fan of the traditionial cross of ID x TB and have had a few.

In terms of the breed, tend to be good doers, lovely hunter types with good characters. Also can be the most amazing jumpers.

Hi,

thanks for the info, I'm not buying this time from Goresbridge im still saving up! lol. Just wanting to go for the experience and to have a look around, its just for future reference. Its not that I know nothing of the breed, but i am gathering as much info as possible as it being my first i want to get it right :)

I will no doubt in the future get in touch with Janet, thanks! I have seen the other forums, I think there were a few on here 6 months or so ago that first made me think about the ID as a possible breed...Im torn between ID's and Friesians. Love them both x lol.
