Got a cat question where do I post it???!!!! Some of you clever people out there may have an answer, apart from me logging onto some cat forum, and seeing as some of you have pics of your pussies (now now I know what you are thinking, stop it!) in your signatures!

What can I do about my Siamese female cat deciding to pee on my bed and sofa? Arrrrrggggghhhhhhhhhhh !!! Oh apart from strangling the damn thing!

We've had a few cats who've done this in the past - is she new? If so, a lot of cats will do this until they settle. But otherwise, you need to try and catch her doing it! Then make a lot of loud noise (clapping hands etc.) so she links peeing in the wrong places with a horrible noise! Make sure you clean up all signs of pee or it can encourage her to do it again in that place. Is her litter tray in an obvious place and kept clean? If possible, could you leave her in one room when you're not there (to catch her in the act) like the kitchen? We have an "outside" cat who has decided we are home (!), he's never been toilet trained as he isnt an indoor cat so if he wants to sleep in the house at night, we just keep him in our kitchen and dining room (no carpet) with lots of sleeping places. Keeps them all happy.

Our cats have done this in the past, VERY annoying and actually gets quite distressing.

Firstly, get rid of ALL traces of past peeing on the bed and sofa. If that means throwing out your quilt etc, then that will be what you have to do I'm afraid.

Don't clean anything with strong products containing ammonia. the smell of ammonia encourages them to wee more. Invest in some proper cat odour and stain remover from the pet shop. We've used the spray version of this, it's fantastic stuff: http://www.lamp-post.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=CH7704

Get some Feliway. You can get spray or plug in diffusers, and it gives off a smell that helps the cat relax, and not want to pee in those areas. It's available from your vet.Feliway made a massive difference to my cats.

if you have a litter tray, keep it spotless so it's never off putting to the cat. If you have a cat flap, makes sure it's secure and there's no way other cats are coming in and stressing yours out. If she normally goes to the loo outside, keep an eye on her when outside and make sure she'd not being terrorised by another cat.

If she's peeing a lot, or this is unusual behaviour, maybe see your vet?

Hope that helps - mine used to do it all the time, but hardly ever do now and it's only if they get really stressed (but Feliway de-stresses them!).

I second everything Bex says!

It might be because she is feeling unsure of herself, in which case feliway, clean litter tray in a quiet place and a regular routine should help.

Alternatively it might be to do with kidney problems or something, so a visit to the vet might be worthwhile.

Thanks everyone! Didn't want to P*&s off anyone by posting a cat query (excuse the pun)!

Have ordered the Stain/odour remover, need to do something about the smell on the sofa as it went through to the base, really can't afford to chuck that out! may need to get new cushions as they are feather filled (yeeuck) but urgently need to get rid of the smell, and as you say the reason for her to do it in the same place again. Washed duvet so will see how that dries, assume though I may not smell it but cat could after it's washed???

Nothing has changed re the household, she is a house cat mostly but pops into the back garden about once a day for a mooch around, but comes in to use litter tray! We live on a fairly busy road, already had 2 cats killed here so don't really want her out for long or while I am not here. I have changed the litter recently to a wood pellet based one so maybe that????

She is one of 3 cats, 2 indoor and 1 an outdoor cat, He's 15 been there seen it got the T shirt and road aware, but I haven't noticed any changes in their behaviour, but who knows cats are fickle things! She is not new had her 8 years along with the others and no new additions to the household that's why I thought it was odd. Will order the Feeliway and get her to vets to check her out so thanks for that everyone!! and thanks for letting me do a cat post!!
