A farmer-friend of OH dropped off one of those mahoosive rectangle haybales yesterday, in thanks of OH helping him out the other week. Wasn't expecting it at all.

EXCELLENT quality (he feeds it to his cows, doesnt sell usually to horsey people and his pastures are perfect when he does the hay) and i'ts so compact, theres loads of it!

How lucky are we? With hay the price it is, it was a very gratefully received gift!

:D

Perissa, a large haybale in your area costs £100???!!!

Where are you? I must be confusing something, because ours have just gone up to £25 a bale!!

I'm in southern hampshire. I paid £7.50 for small bale hay, £3.50 for small bale straw. Round bales are £75 and rectangular bales £100.

Depressing!

When I got my pony first about 8 years ago now, it was £25 for a rectangular bale of hay and £15 for the same size bale of straw!

We obv have more in common than we think, just happened to my OH this week after helping repairing a barn on the farm. Bit of a bugger that my horses are here in Kent so his fat cob gets the freebies!!!!!

100 for a large bale! Maybe try the feed merchants for haylage instead? I'm in berkshire/Hampshire borders and large bales of haylage are 37 delivered, not bad!
