I don't know if people have seen this? With a quick read I think it's about letting other professionals eg vet nurses, be allowed to do a wider range of veterinary tasks and all professionals - physios, trimmers, behaviorists, EDT, farriers would need a license from the same regulatory body.

Eg of the consultation questions

Currently, registered veterinary nurses can only carry out veterinary tasks if they are delegated from a veterinary surgeon employed by the same business. Should registered veterinary nurses be able to carry out specific roles, such as district nursing, without direct delegation from a veterinary surgeon?

Thoughts?

Not got time (or inclination) to really go through the link, but in general (relating to vet nursing) I would wholeheartedly support a system whereby some nurses could take on what are currently vet only tasks.

A lot of routine things vets do is not rocket science and having more career progression prospects for nurses would enhance the profession, reduce some burden on vets, and potentially make some routine pet care more affordable for owners.

Obviously it shouldn’t be an unregulated free for all and thought needs to go into it (which is presumably part of the consultation stage), but in theory I’m a 100% yes.

I can see that would work. I'm just not sure about all equine related professionals having to be licensed under the same body. I would imagine that farriers, for example, would think that they have a perfectly satisfactory system with the Worshipful Company of Farriers.
