I found some Jods on their website, that says in stock, but then you can`t order. When you go to their contact page it says they are no longer doing web/mail order.

Are they still open? or have they closed down.

Thanks :)

They are definitely still open - in fact it's their shop open day tomorrow. I would maybe try and give them a call - they're quite local to me and I have always found them really helpful.

Well, not very helpful at all, I explained my situation and he said that he won`t post anything any more. I`m actually gutted. They are the only place I can find who stock these particular Jods. I know they fit, I know my size, I know they are comfortable.

I had a bad accident 4 weeks ago and broke my spine, they had to cut all my clothing off ... So gutted to know that they have them, and there`s nothing I can do about it. :(

That's terrible service from - they're usually so helpful. So sorry to hear about your accident - you poor thing. You probably don't feel like giving them your custom now but if you can pay for them over the phone I'd be happy to pick them up and post them on to you as I live fairly local to them?

Thank you, that is very kind of you, but he wouldn`t accept payment by card over the phone, or paypal, or bank transfer, I offered all of them and even said I`d organise a courier to collect too and he still said no. x

Seriously?? What is wrong with him? Well if he thinks that it makes good business sense to shut down the mail order side and rely on local trade only then good luck to them. They're not the only tack shop around and I anticipate another empty shop unit for let in the not too distant future!! The only other thing I can think of is if you still want them - if you PayPal me the funds and I can buy them and send them on. Tho I would be loath to give money to a company being so difficult!!

Exactly, I was planning on buying 3 or 4 pairs at £34.99 each, and was happy to pay a bit extra for "handling/packaing" ... so he`s lost out on a well over £100 just for the sake of boxing/bagging them up for me. Again thank you for your lovely offer, but as you said I don`t want to give him my money anymore. I shall wait until i`m more mobile and take myself off on a shopping spree. We found a shop quite locally last Sunday that we didn`t know of who seem to have a large and varied supply, and she was lovely and helpful i`d rather wait til I can try them on again and give her my money. Thank you very much for trying to help me though. I really appreciate it x

What jods were you after?

They are TBK houndstooth/Black tartan. The have a black triangle over the zip pockets, and the cut and shape combined with the contrast in colours is very flattering on my figure (large bum/hips/thighs) and the fit of them is wonderful too. No bagginess that I get with other makes, and equally no digging in or tightness anywhere either, they really do fit me well. I just must be a bit of an odd shape, I have the same trouble with jeans, to fit my hips they are always baggy around my back/waist.

I hope this link works:

4th row down, second pair in (they are also quite nice in the blue and the chocolate) ....

It does seem odd that someone should turn down income like this, but I can only think that he as had his fingers severely burned and doesn't trust people any more. Horsey people do seem to have something of a reputation - look at all posts about dodgy buyers/sellers on Ebay you see on this board for a start.

What awful customer service! I've always had good experiences with them so it's a shame to hear that you haven't had the same.

The pictures on this website are terrible but are these possibly the same jodhpurs? They come in black tartan but very hard to tell from the photos - http://www.snafflesequestrian.co.uk...urs&category_code=0028-0001-&product_id=12820

Thank you, I have spoken with Snaffles and they have been beyond helpful, such a contrast, lovely lovely people. Sadly it isn`t the same ones, they are the newer version which are different (and a slimmer fit lol), but I can`t recommend them highly enough for customer service. Thank you for looking for the jods for me :) x

But he didn`t stand to lose anything? I offered to pay by card, bank transfer, or paypal, and pay for and organise the courier ... if the risk was anywhere it was mine (paying for the goods and hoping he boxed them for me for my courier to collect).

Anyway, I had a lot of help from some amazing folk in the last 24 hours ... (you know who you are, and thank you) and I`m sure Goyt Mill will still offer an amazing service for anyone walking through their doors :)

I thought i should reply to the lady who wanted the jods .We do not do mail order anymore as it does say on the website ,as in April my son left who did the mail order site to find another job ,in truth it really wasnt worth doing the mail order ,we ran it for 5 years so we really did have a good go at it .When he left he took his knowledge with him ,and now we have a just a site for our local customers to check stock before they make the journey to us .My husband wasnt being nasty with this lady and really did try to explain this to her ,we do not have the facilities or knowledge to take orders now by paypal or over the phone .I have been in retail for over 30 years and the truth is i enjoy what i have now ,i have lovely local customers ,who know me and if they have a problem they can discuss it with me not shout at me over the phone , .Just as every customer has the right to choose where to shop so should every shop be able to decide what works best for them.

I'm sorry to hear that the mail order side of the business is not running any more. I have used goyt mill online several times in the past and received wonderful service and have always recommended you. I am not local, so there is no chance I will pop in, and it's a shame I won't be able to shop with you any more.

In truth, in current times, I think it's a tad short sighted to disband your online / mail order arm as I imagine that is the future of any sales growth. However, it is your business and I wish you well with it.

It would not have been any challenge for the lady to give you her card details and you could have input them into your chip and pin machine (just press client not present button) and if she was going to arrange a courier it wouldn't have caused much bother for you. And the lady's post might have been full of praise for the service received.

It seems really simple just to take an order over the phone and put it through the terminal client not present ,but the bank can pull the payment back a few weeks later ,if the card is found to be stolen even though when you put the card in it says authorized as without the customer putting the pin in it is not guaranteed so i would rather not go down that line .Im not saying this lady wasnt genuine ,but i just thought i would answer your question

I can't get those as my suppliers don't sell them or I would have got you a pair in. I don't tend to retail anything I don't make myself now but still have several accounts with wholesalers, worth a try but sorry I can't help, Oz

I think a lot of the posts on here about poor customer service are quite unfair. Itstates on the website and op was told when she called that they no longer supply by post. Whilst there is no harm in asking, you need to take the polite no at face value and move on. What you are asking ror is equivalent to me asking an overseas company which states it doesnt ship to the UK to make anexceotion for me, or a local resteraunt to do me a take away order. Theres no harm I asking, but I respect going in that they are well within their rights to say no, and are most likely to do so as what I m asking for is outside of their normal business.
I shop at Goyt Mill in person and online so am disappointed that they have stopped that side of the business, but it certainly wouldn't stop me giving them the in-person custom they currently get from me.
