Does anyone have a picture of a GP saddle and where the girth should go/ finish (i.e. should the buckle finish just below the saddle pad or further down?

I think J has lost some of his rotundness and his girth may be a bit long

(a prolite GP girth would be handy to see if possible)

Thank you :)

Sorry I didn't word it properly, where should the start of the actual girth (where the strap starts) go? Mine is practically on the sweat flap of the saddle and I have to do it up so the buckles are nearly at the top of the saddle straps.... does that make any sense?

Just below the saddle pad on mine. Buckle is 2 or 3 hole on each side, any shorter & I’d struggle to initially do it up.

Definitely too long if girth buckles are at the top of the saddle straps.

I find a problem with Prolite girths and Wintec AP saddles (same combo, in different sizes, on two horses)... When they were slightly more rotund and using the second hole up on each of the girth straps all was good. Now both have lost a little and on hole three, the start of the actual body of the girth catches right on the bottom of the sweat flap. It won't stay sat on top of it but catches and folds the bottom. So OP maybe try and avoid that problem with any different size you buy!

OOh that saddle looks familiar :D.

Unless there's something that will rub or catch (those TG and similar design girths are a b*gger for catching the flaps with the padding) you can have it where you like, though as I say, I would have the girth as short as possible for stability reasons and using the top hole is absolutely not good and the girth is usually much too long. The 3rd hole then is ideally as high as you'd like it and yes, much lower it's impossible to get done up especially on rounder ribcages as they tend to inflate more!

Only certain styles, like the TG one pictured which loads of other companies have copied, cause this, the better designs, IMO, don't, the length doesn't always make enough difference as it ends up much too short or too long.
