Im thinking of buying a new riding hat, and looking at GPA either carbone or titium.
What does everyone think of them and how do they measure up size wise. Currently i have a charles owen size 7.
Also how do they fare in the safety ratings.

Many thanks xxx

I don't know about standard in the UK but they are "legal" here in north America.

Interestingly I was looking at a website today which sells them and they had a sale on with the carbone hats - significant sale but only in certain sizes. I personally want to buy my daughter the titanium one as they are so comfortable and nicely made hats. I am not sure I can really justify the $550 price tag though

I've had the Titium and now have the new style one that looks a bit like I have landed from space!

Sooo comfortable and non sweaty head making which is a must for hats as far as I am concerned. I think they are fairly standaerd size wise.

I have the Speed Air and always loved it...untill i started riding out racehorses. I got an AP McCoy skull cap and would not wear anything else now...may use the GPA in the Sj ring but thats it! The Speed Air is NOT listed for children or juniors in the USA and having seen a large amount of them break when just being dropped I have my doubts tbh...that being said they are aimed at the professional SJ market the large proportion of which do not wear hats when riding at home only wear them in the ring!

They don't carry the BSI Kitemark so they are not permitted by Pony Club or British Riding Clubs. They are very expensive hats if you then need a second hat to wear at PC or BRC competitions, rallies or training. When my daughter needed to go up a size she had a Champion Ventair instead of another GPA - she had been using her jockey skull for all PC and RC stuff - and it is more comfortable as well as satisfying all current safety standards, and at a fraction of the cost of the GPA range.
