Can anyone help with sizing for a jockey skull please ( I'm looking at the Jock Up 2 ).

I normally wear a Champion Vent Air and am a 6 5/8ths but I think these come up big.

I'm looking at ordering a GPA and measured my head at 55cms which makes me bigger than the 6 5/8ths I'm currently wearing - does anyone know what the sizing is like on the GPA and if it suits a round or oval type head please.

I have a Charles Owen Showjumper XP which fits perfectly and I bought a GPA Speed Air in the same size from the internet without trying on. It's very slightly on the large side in comparison. I love the hat though but I think I would have liked to have tried the next size down.
I won't buy another hat without physically trying it for size - even if I try the hat on in a tack shop and then order it over the net.

Thanks Firefly, I think exactly the same but there's noone anywhere near me that stocks the GPA - to make it worse I can only seem to get it from GPA direct and they don't refund, only exchange.

I was hoping to get it online from a shop I can return it if it's no good but I can't find one anywhere hence the dilemma!

Don't buy a hat you can't try on, they all fit differently. If none of the local shops stock the hat you want try going to one of the big shows where there are lots of trade stands. Burghley is next weekend and you can buy ANYTHING there. It would be worth a trip just for the huge range of shops!

I've just had an email from GPA regarding ordering a helmet.

Although it was a very quick response to my query and a very helpful, polite email it stated that they have reviewed their refund policy and are now happy to offer a refund for any unused item returned - less 20%

So I order a £300 helmet and it doesn't fit , I've paid £5 to get it here, god knows how much to send it back fully insured and lose £60 to the supplier. All in all it could cost me about £80 for the privilege of trying it on!

So you're right Kat, I really do need to try it on first so it looks like it will have to wait and my faithful old Champion will have to suffice for some time to come :(

On that basis it would be cheaper to pay entry to go to somewhere like burghley or your horse live or HOYS and try on hats there. Or to drive to a stockists miles away - you could make a day of it and visit somewhere nice while you are out.
