What with all the tack thefts and also the plaiting and potential horse thefts I was wondering if there was a way of putting a small micro chip which also had a gps tracking system in a saddle.

I did a bit of internet search and know there is no way of having a GPS tracker for horses but if someone invented one that was like a micro chip then I imagine there would be a huge amount of interest.

Smartwater is the next nearest thing, you get it from your local neighbourhood watch, its 20quid ish, and you paint it on all your tack and everything, you can only see it under UV light but the liquid is unique to you so if your tack gets stolen and then found they can always tell who owned it.

actually i read once that you could gps kids ! dont know if it was in america or what but in that case you should be able to do horses ! dont know where i read it but i did . im not mad

Yes there is a GPS tracker for horses. Its call radon or something similar. Its currently being developed and I have put my horse's name down for one already.

It sends you are text if your horse is inactive for an unusual amount of time or if he strays out of his field etc or even should he be rushing around.

If you go riding, just text them and let them know.

I haven't find anything for tracking, except attaching a gps device on the horse

:). But I just spot one guy that had mapped his horse ride with sportypal. Probably this can work easy. It just need a GPS equipped phone. Here: http://twurl.nl/724eq1
