I have the Masterclip HD Roamer clippers and I want to "tidy up" his legs without completely clipping all fluff off and so I wondered if there were any graders that fit them?

I have cheapy trimmers from ebay that have graders but I'm worried they wont go through the substantial fluff and will catch and pull. He is already a bit funny having his legs done so didn't want to risk that really.

Any suggestions?

Cant really afford to buy another set of clippers/ trimmers at the minute (obvious reasons - refusing to mention the C word!)

Ignore this, I've spoken to Masterclip and they don't have any that fit the clippers.

Looks like I might just have to take the whole lot off... poor coblet!

I’m in the exact boat!
I was planning on taking the whole lot off but figure I left it a bit late.
I bought some libretto trimmers thinking they came with guards but no!

It is doable, if you have a horse that stands like a rock, and good clipper control. You need a solid comb - I use a thick plastic one, which you run through the hair with one hand, whilst clipping the hair that cones through the comb with your other hand, so that you leave a combs depth of hair on the leg. It's very easy to mess up though!

I don't think I will be trying that. The last time his legs were done (first time since I got him) and he was NOT happy and very upset. I'm going to do some desensitising over the weekend so hopefully I can use my trimmers just to tidy him up. They are really quiet as well so hopefully he will be a bit more chilled :)

Trim the feather with scissors, then go over them with a thinning blade and/or thinning scissors. I did this last year and aside from being slightly mismatched (I can't bear to cut his mane!), it looked very natural - more Welsh/Friesian than gypsy.

I tried it with my trimmers with guides on and it was horrendous.... I went down with the feathers but it just took chunks out

Now I don't know whether to just take the whole legs off?

I haven't got any thinning scissors or anything :(

Only replying here (I know it's an old thread) because I was asking exactly the same question as the OP.....I love my Masterclip Roamers and I thought perhaps I could use them to tidy up the cob leg fluff rather than knackering another pair of blades on my little trimmers (which do come with guards). But it would appear not. How annoying. Trimmers it is then! Now I just need to work out how to change the blades.
