I always felt the music from the Champions film that the BBC used on there coverage of the Grand National was perfect and full of emotion and really set the scene for the race, I missed it today. What did everyone else think of the coverage, I thought the build up was pretty good and full of interesting interviews etc but somehow lacked the 'emotion' and 'drama' that the BBC coverage seemed to beable to create?

As I type I'm watching 'Champions' on DVD - so no not missing 'Champions Theme' at all - its a beautiful piece of music and always brings a tear to my eyes .... P.s.Chestnut Boyo's middle name is 'Aldaniti' :-)

I thought the coverage on Ch 4 was dire particularly of the racing itself, the filming was awful. The interviews were OK but Claire had verbal diarrhoea and there was no excitement at all or so it appeared from the TV coverage. Hope to God they can do a lot better at Royal Ascot.

They also didn't give enough time after the race to get any decent interviews with owner, trainer and jockey. Also the Beeb used to disect the race fence by fence and finish their program at 5pm.

Isn't it usually played during the parade? That didn't happen today for whatever reason - trying to keep the horses settled going down to the start, I think, coupled with moving the start away from the stands - if it results in as good a start as they had today I applaud it but I do miss the parade!

Yes! Mentioned it on the other thread about them all being safe.

It just used to add to the atmosphere/ occasion and would have thought C4 would have had a special intro even if they couldn't use the same music but they just used their bog standard everyday opening!

Muffinio, thank you for posting the link to the music, missed it this year and yes, makes me cry too!
