Hi folks,

Was on here a bit many moons ago, but a newbie again now:)

Was hoping to pick the experts brains and see if anyone may have had some experience with having had a granuloma removed, by laser, from the larynx. Especially if it was a youngster.

Would be really interested to hear, any long terms issues regarding soundness, ability to work etc? Or any complications that people found and the like.

Really appreciate your help, hopefully the tale will have a happy end!

Thanks

I only know of one. He was operated on about 6 months ago. He is back in work hacking and dressage.Seems to have healed well although makes a bit more of a noise than he did before but his case was complicated by an emergency tracheostomy(sp) during the op when he couldnt breathe.
Its still early days as to if he is fully cured.
The only oddity is that he now seems to be a mild headshaker which the vet says is nothing to do with the op but seems a bit of a coincidence that it started after the op in a 14yo horse that didnt headshake before!

My horse had one removed on Tuesday, although not a young horse he is 15. It was nearly the size in the vets thumb. And it went part down his Trachea. It was removed sucessfully and his breathing returned to normal within hours. He has to be re scoped in 6 weeks but no problems so far. I think his recovery was remarkable. Just awaiting the test results to see what it is.
