Does anyone have experience of grass allergies? My 17 yr old mare has developed allergies to some grasses. She has very itchy skin and is biting and rubbing herself. She had raw patches on her skin. She was on steroids from March to October and is currently finishing a 20 day course of piriton (25 twice daily) which doesnt seem to have helped. She came off steroids on vet's advice (she has had laminitis twice in the past) and has been stabled 24/7 since middle of August. She is currently fed on 18lb of rye grass haylage and approx 2kg of alfa-a lite per day. She has a shavings bed and is mucked out twice daily. Vet has said it is definately a digestive allergy. Does anyone have any suggestions as she is still itchy.
