Hi I am looking for help with my very tricky problem of trying to move my 2 horses closer to London. I currently have them in Kent but the very long journey is wearing me down - at least 1.5 hours each way! But my girl lives out and I don't think living in will suit her. So I am looking for that magic combination of a place that will allow grass livery for her, part livery (in) for my boy and has good hacking. Any ideas, the whole process of moving is very daunting!

Hi simbacat

My lovely yard has vacancies at the mo - they do part livery only but if you ask they may be able to offer you grass too. They are approx 10 mins of the A3 in Chilworth Surrey - the hacking is amazing, we have a school, lorry parking - the two girls who run it are very experienced and really go out of their way to look after the horses.

PM me if you would like the details.

Carol

our yard offers grass and part...little burgate farm. near Milford, 10 mins off A3...pm me for contact details...2 sand schools, 1 mile gallops, all year turn out, no road work :)

Those both sound really great, many thx for getting back to me) but maybe just a little too far from London - I would love to get there in under an hour ( I'm in SW8) anyone else have any ideas....

Hi, i also live in London and keep my horse in Kent, and you are right, the drive is also starting to get to me, i keep my horse in Staplehurst, and this is so weird, but i also used to live in SW8, i now live about 10 mins from there.

I have also been looking to move my horse to grass livery somewhere, i work full time, but in the Summer i would like to drive out to see my horse some evenings and will go every weekend, but i worry about moving him and worry about if he would be looked after properly

I can get to Richmond Park/Stag Lodge stables in about 35/40 mins from our yard...guess it depends how far from that part of the A3 you are...SW8 a biggish area lol

You will have to be a fair way out of london to get both decent grass livery that is well managed and plentiful along side decent part livery that is reasonably priced, with all year turnout...I started off in Sutton/Banstead and have gradually moved further and further out

Thanks all for everyone's help, I have never posted on a horsey forum before its amazing! Following all this advice I am going to look at 3 to start with - Hurstfields (closest) South Warren Farm ( sounds like it could be good value) and Frensham Manor ( best facilities but furthest) All said they have grass and part livery and great hacking. Anyone here have any personal experiences of these places - we really want to find somewhere we can go for a good fast canter and blow the London smog out of our hair..
