My horse has a rather large bucket of grasstastic every night in addition to his ad-lib hay.
Does anyone use similar or have suggestions on what I can alternate it with which has a higher conditioning rate?

he’s not naturally a good doer and is ulcer prone so something low in starch/sugar but that can aid weight gain/condition?

Thankyou

I don't think any of them have a higher DE without also increasing the sugar/starch, just because of the limits of grass.

Simple systems perform and shine does for instance but has a very large range of poss sugar (7-15 %(), and as it's grass+ linseed oil you can do the linseed side yourself.

My oldie now needs a bit extra. In addition to haylage, he has half a bucket of grass chaff and a scoop of Fibre Nuggets shaken over an armful of haylage to give him something interesting to do picking them out. This winter he has held condition much better than last year.

I have been feeding my oldie grass pellets soaked with extra linseed added. I think the grass pellet mush might be more appetising than the chaff

It should be more cost effective as well because the pellets expand out when soaked and make up far more than their dry volume.
