Graze - On

Ha. I asked my Feed merchant for some and got laughed at and told it is a weedkiller!! I tried to explain that Graze-on was a grass feed and that Grazeon 90 was the weedkiller!!

Sorry, not much help there.

Love this stuff!

I feed it because I don't like molassed chaff (and horse acts like a junkie when he has molasses

) and needed something with a greater energy than a normal chaff. Horse doesn't like alfalfa, and it's too dear to feed in the volume I do anyway.

So I use Graze On - great quality, reasonably priced (£7 for 15kg) and horse loves it. He looks good on it too - he's always looked well on good grass, so it makes sense to feed him Graze-On when he's lacking good grass in the field.

My only issue so far is that I've failed to fit a sack into a feed bin

Im glad you said you fed it as a replacement for molassessed chaffs because i hate them too! And Alfalfa is so expensive, especially when ive got 3 to feed anyway.
Our grazing is rubbish aswell! Looks like it'll be ideal.
What quantities do you feed?
Thankyou for your reply

I know, it's so difficult to find a good-quality chaff! Though I do like D&H Fibergy as a lower-energy alternative.

In the winter when he needs a bit of help, he gets about the equivalent of 3 scoops in the morning, and probably about 4 in the evening, alongwith unmolassed sugar beet - rough approximations I'm afraid as I tend to do handfuls (sack is tightly packed so I pull it out in big clumps). Said beasty is a retired (but not elderly) 16.2hh TB

I'd probably start off feeding it at the same rate as you would alfalfa, as it does have a higher energy value than something like HiFi.

Hope that helps!

It's the only chaff I would use now after trying it last winter! The horses love it and it's so clean, both in looks and feel! My feed man said about weedkiller too! Just be sure you ask for the GO chaff otherwise you'll get grass nuts! Northern Crop Dryers make it I think.

I use Graze-on Gold Blend. Same manufacturer, but a mix of good quality straw and grass. My two love it. One is a 27 yr old TB, and the other an 11 yr old cob.
I've fed it for a while now, and they do well on it. Its chopped fine enough for the TB to manage it, as his teeth aren't what they used to be!

i went and bought a bag today. Im really pleased with it! i didnt expect the bag to be so big. It smells lovely and the quality is fab, so i gave my 3 a little bit to try tonight. They all loved it! harvey even followed me all the way into my tackroom to get some more, wasnt easy to menouver a nosey yearling backwards through a small door >.<
Thanks for everyones comments and advice!
