As the title says I bought my boy in this morning and immediately noticed him lame, it's his near side hind and his bulb was grazed and bloody. I really don't know how he has done it. Any suggestions and would he be better off being kept in or turned out, I have kept him in tonight. Thanks.

I would think the poor boy would be lame as every time he moves it must stretch the sore/raw place. I suppose you just need to keep it free of flies and clean. Do you have an aloe vera plant? I always break off a leaf and apply the gel - great healer. If flies are a problem then I would work out some sort of loose covering or a bandage with a gauze underneath? I prefer turn out since moving around, unless there is an underlying bone/tendon issue, will keep swelling down - personal choice.

Thank you, yes he is very lame and feeling very sorry for himself. I will see if our local farmers store has any aloe Vera gel on Monday. All I did today was hose it, once it had dried I put some wound powder on it. Not many flies today as it has been raining. Thanks

I expect if he's kept with others than someone else has stood on his heal - my youngster did exactly this to my old Warmblood as he was shimmying him down the field!
Just kept it clean for a few days and all was well.
