Grazing Muzzles Question

I've only used one on a pony that was in at night, but most people I know ether leave it on during the day or night. I can't think of anyone that leaves it on 24/7.

Sorry not much help

I leave mine on 24/7 as agreed with the vet because shes lami prone but I do feed her everyday magnesium, equigold, naf slimline and fast fibre.
Another vet came to visit one of the horses on the yard last week, different vet to mine and also said it was ok. Her muzzle will come of about November and be put back on April.

My cob who lives on fresh air is out 24/7 and muzzled 24/7. You will be surprised at how much they still eat with it on once they have perfected the skill of getting grass through the hole. I take my boys one off and he has a handful of grass still left in it! If it's hot, he comes in as he struggles with pollen allergies and having a muzzle on in the heat is not a good combination:rolleyes:

Thankies :). LC is piling on weight and a muzzle seems the way to go at the moment (we're working on other options). I took it off earlier and he didn't dive for the grass, so I think he's getting enough. Will weigh tape daily, see how he goes :)

Mine wears his greenguard 24 hours. I give him the odd day without it if it's hot or really rainy but he is a clever monkey and always manages to eat around it!!!! Still it keeps his weight manageable and his feet sound (he is barefoot behind). He gets his dose of D & H Equibites every day to make sure he gets his vits & mins which work really well, as he needs no hard feed at all.

I don't use it through the winter or the height of summer, or when the farmer has topped the field, when the grass is poor.
I think you just have to use trial and error with them. Mine would probably still gain weight with his on if he wasn't being ridden every day. He is very good at pulling his off too!
