As a lami sufferer horse will have to wear a muzzle if he is to have any turnout time. I have a muzzle (bucket shaped, made of webbing with 'headcollar strapping') but is it the best type to use? & How long can I expect to leave him out as he will not be able to graze at all in this muzzle, the grass is too short. Thoughts & opinions gratefully received from a stressed mum!!

Depends on each individual horse and how the cope with it. My old mare couldn't eat or drink through the bucket type ones but got on fine with the Greenguard. My current pony has a bucket type one on and does wear it 24/7 when in the field with lots of grass, he copes really well with it and even lowers his head in to it bless him!

Also some may rub and others not so which may be a factor. It's a bit of trial and error really.

Difficult if there is no actual grass he can eat, would it be possible to put piles of hay out to be eaten through the muzzle - both mine were able to do this!

Connie wears one (although currently not in one as the grass has nothing in it where we are) - its the shires webbing type (see photo below), during the summer she was turned out at 6pm and in by 7am, wearing the muzzle the whole time.
