Bought a grazing muzzle for my overweight cob - she lives out 24/7. Do I just leave it on her for a couple of hours per day? as surely if I left it on 24/7 she would be starving as use to full access to grass.

Thanks

As long as your grass is long enough your horsey shouldn't be starving. How long you leave it on depends on how chubby/laminitis prone your horse is and also grass quality etc. I reckon as long as it was off for a few hours every day cuddy should be aok. If grass is short though the you will need to leave it off for longer.
Hope that helps!!

thats the hardest for them to reliese they can drink with it on put it on in the day and then put her on a bare patch at night with a section or two of poor quality hay you are feeding to bulk her up so she feels full but with out the godness and calories!

I'm alternating between a Shires one (slightly modified so the hole lined up with her mouth and fleece lined round the back and a strip down the front) and a Green Guard one (which doesn't seem to rub as long as it is fitted exactly right. - Rubbed once when too loose and she got her nose out the side of it!!!). The only thing I have noticed is that her whiskers seem to being snagged on her chin (so I have now shaved it to stop then being pulled out). My cob is on a restricted patch at night (with muzzle on) and in during the day with 5lbs of double soaked 2006 hay.

but vasalin on her muzzle and chin then the mask will not rub her you are doing the right thing by soaking her hay just try cutting her hy down a bit if she is on graze 24/7 she will be gettin more than enought any way1

Her muzzle isn't being rubbed due to me switching between two masks, making sure they fit properly and lining them with fleece. TBH as she is 15.3hh and ONLY out at night (as stated above), I don't think cutting down on hay when she ONLY gets 5lbs (double soaked) anyway would be a good idea.
