Okay, I keep reading these posts about grazing muzzles and I get the general idea of them BUT I really know nothing about them

How do they work?

Do the horses still get some grass?

How do they drink?

How long are you meant to leave them on for?

xx

As far as i know horses can still eat through them, they have holes in so grass intake is just restricted (sp). They can drink while wearing them too.
People i know who use them put them on for a couple of hours a day or just while they are at work

My friend just bought one for her cob, it was a webbing one.. it lasted a day.. he trashed it big time, now unusable!!

Get a greenguard one they can still eat and drink with it, but alot more durable than the webbing ones

It depends on the make. Green guard come in several sizes and my previous horse used to have his on for about 36 hours on 12 hours off, then 36hours on etc etc he got totally used to it- and it just became part of our summer. There are other 'bucket' type ones and they restrict intake the more imo- just one 50p sized hole in the bottom.
People always argue that they are harder to get off- but pony on yard has one and we came up this morning and he had removed him, he was truned out and as he roled he got it off.... they are cheeper though and more robust- however I think they irritate the whiskers round their muzzle.
