My new horse, Paddy, is coming home in a week or so. His new pasture in which he will live in 24/7 has been growing since the last silage cut in late June. It has very tall grass in it along with wheat-like plants as well. There are also reeds in amongst the pasture which is around a foot and a half tall.

Would the pasture need cut before he arrived or is it safe enough for him to nibble away at it?

Also what plants in a meadow are poisonous?

Thanks in advance

There is a JA Allen book with descriptions of poisonous plants with pics for around £5-10, I'd buy that. Long grass is old and stalky so less danger to good do-ers than short lush sugary grass, if that's the concern.
