Last few weeks my sleek and shiny horse has transformed into a woolley greasy hairy monster!! I'm clipping him later today but how are you all keeping the woolley bits clean? I've tried using summer sheets under rugs and regularly rotating so always clean but it means wasrugs at home which is ideal. No hot water at yard so can't hot cloth. Might both him later as well if weather lows but everything is so greasy. Any easy hacks for clean and shiny?

The ‘shine’ comes from within. The grease is perfectly natural, and what you want to see on an unclipped horse going in to winter. Regular grooming will reduce the amount of grease in the coat.
This above.
Most will be greasy unless clipped and rugged at present. B certainly is!

I take flasks to my yard if I need to hot cloth, and if bathing I fill containers with hot water at home, wrap in towels and it keeps pretty warm.

I know it natural but it looks awful.ooking for ways to help reduce it a least . We compete over winter and we can't go out looking like that!!

I wash all my rug liners, summer sheets and fly rugs in my machine I just use the large laundry bags and just wash one rug at a time, it stops the hair and dirt getting in the machine.

Hot clothing take a flask then proper grooming with a decent brush and curry comb, then use coat shine and apply while grooming with your body brush, I tend to clip the whole body off and just leave half a face and legs on its so much easier to keep them clean, as long as you have good decent rugs they don't get cold and cope with the weather.

I use a big water container wrapped in a Thermatex to transport hot water to the yard. The bigger the container, the hotter it stays. I'd only do it on a clipped horse though.

Thanks all. I've given him an Irish clip this afternoon. I've popped a sheet on under his rug so will keep changing it. Will try and get some hot water to the yard at some point.
