We have recently bought a small holding with two houses with my parents. They have 3 great danes and i have 2 labs and the youngest dane keeps fighting with all the others. She has ripped the very quiet lab's ear open and enough is enough. My dad says she has to go by tomorrow. There are 5 bitches and i think that is why! We were going to breed from her but not now. She is very very well bred, the best of the lot, 2 year old black bitch. She is free to a good home if anyone knows of anyone. We are in West Wales. I really don't want to take her to a rescue centre....

Why would you not want to take her to a rescue centre? A rescue would find her a home, the home would be checked and she would have rescue back up for life, personally I think it is much safer to go through a rescue than offer a dog free to a good home. I bet there are some great dane rescues that know the breed very well and also might have homes waiting.

I love Great Danes - I hope you find someone nice.

If you don't get someone in time, maybe try contacting a breed society rather than a 'general' rescue. They may already have a waiting list of people.

There isn't one, it is his dog after all. Just think its such a shame as she is a lovely dog, just think there's too many bitches on one patch. Our houses are next door to each other.

Unless u get her a home via here, I would not be saying free to good home and I would not let her go un-neutered if u are letting her go free, as chances are she will become a breeding machine, Im sure even though u are having problems u still want her the best home u can get.......I would advise u say donation required and home check to be carried out, and at the least check out a prospective new home.........you would be suprised how many puppy farmers look for cheap or free dogs/bitches to never see sunlight again and be bred from every heat,or those who think "ah free pedigree" even though they cannot offer a suitable home, then discard months later for the dog to be passed from pillar to post..........sorry but dealing with rescue allows u to see behind the scenes and it's not pleasant.

Good luck in finding her a good home.

Also in doggi section and I have PM'ed u some good rescue sites that offer back up for life.

I am looking for a Great Dane at the moment as my GSD has reached the end of the road and my current Dane does not like to be on his own. Trouble is we are north london so you are a bit far or I would love to help!
