We have recently bought a small holding with two houses with my parents. They have 3 great danes and i have 2 labs and the youngest dane keeps fighting with all the others. She has ripped the very quiet lab's ear open and enough is enough. My dad says she has to go by tomorrow. There are 5 bitches and i think that is why! We were going to breed from her but not now. She is very very well bred, the best of the lot, 2 year old black bitch. She is free to a good home if anyone knows of anyone. We are in West Wales. I really don't want to take her to a rescue centre....

When do they want to get rid of her by? My YO is looking for a Great Dane but their other dog has just had major surgury so they can't take anything on atm.

Bitches are awful when they fight

is there no chance you can call in a trainer or work with her yourselves?
She may be unsure of her place in the pecking order and needs firm rules.

Best of luck with her either way, dunno if this will be resolvable by removing her from the situation or if the bitch will need further work/training in her new home - I imagine a dog-aggressive Dane isn't much fun.

And well done for making the decision not to breed from her.
You should advise new owners to do likewise!

She has attacked and ripped open 3 of them, she gets on well with one and she has attacked one of the other danes 3 times. Nearly every time we have had to go to the vets for stitches. She is a lovely dog though and its such a shame. But tonight is the last straw, the lab she attacked doesn't say boo to a goose and is really quiet and dopey!

OK, but you must, must pass on this info to any potential new owners.
I do know how you feel, not lecturing you, we had a bitch who used to attack our older girl and luckily she was able to go back to her breeder for a few months to settle her down and a bit of re-training.

I have a dog aggressive dog myself (reformed character!) and it can be quite hard work to reverse this behaviour.

Unless u get her a home via here, I would not be saying free to good home and I would not let her go un-neutered if u are letting her go free, as chances are she will become a breeding machine, Im sure even though u are having problems u still want her the best home u can get.......I would advise u say donation required and home check to be carried out, and at the least check out a prospective new home.........you would be suprised how many puppy farmers look for cheap or free dogs/bitches to never see sunlight again and be bred from every heat,or those who think "ah free pedigree" even though they cannot offer a suitable home, then discard months later for the dog to be passed from pillar to post..........sorry but dealing with rescue allows u to see behind the scenes and it's not pleasant.

Good luck in finding her a good home.

I know you don't want her to go into a rescue kennel, but it would probably be worth contacting Dane Rescue and seeing if they have anyone on their books who might be suitable. When my Mum used to be involved with GSD rescue she often placed dogs with people offering homes straight from their previous owners to save the dog the upheaval of being kennelled.
