Great Dane x Poodle Pups

We met a Dane x poodle pup ages ago it was white & blue possibly merle and curly coated but looser than poodle type. It was very bouncy which was a little unnerving as was bigger than my greyhounds. Can't really see why anyone would want to combine those breeds myself.

that's the ones, what I meant was that for a full KC pedigree great Dane pups you can get £1,000 so why cross breed?

Because you dont have to register the litter with the KC:mad:. They can breed a full KC litter at one season and register the pups then the following season they can breed the bitch to a poodle and make more money out her.

The KC restricts the number of litters you can register so this gets round that little problem easily:mad::mad:

There sure are some strange mixes about!

Dog walking friend of mine has a Great Dane x Staffie!! He rescued it as a pup (long story :( ), is an experienced dog owner and the pup, now 8 months old, is gorgeous, but is going to be big!!

more like the quality of these dogs are not up to scratch, as said many times before a good KC breeder would never put their stud dog to a bitch that's not an excellent example and has had health checks especially for great Danes.

I honestly just don't understand this so-called "designer breed" crap (pardon my French lol). They're just glorified mongrels surely? With most breeding done by people just in in for a fast buck by selling twee named mixes to gullible idiots. After all, unless you really really know what you're doing re genes etc., how can you guarantee that your "labradoodle" will have the lab character genes and the poodle coat genes? Just as likely to be the other way round? It reminds me of a bit in a James Herriot book I read years ago - a posh lady with a dog of indeterminate breed was pressing the vet to classify it as a precise breed; in the end, the vet said "Madam, I think it best we just call him a wee brown dog". :)
