So, after a successful day at Swalcliffe we headed of to Goring for another BE100, what made this event extra special is this was the first event I gained a DC at BE100 back in 2014, so we were hoping for a repeat performance!

As Swalcliffe had been such a good start to the season, with Alf feeling perfect, we had a quiet 2 weeks just to maintain him and for me to finish all my assignments for Uni-not fun at all! We had a good couple of dressage lessons where he was working so relaxed and really working onto a contact so all in all i was very pleased with how he was.

I had lovely late times for Goring, with my dressage not until 4.11 it was a very easy start, with plaiting and packing being done very quickly. I am pleased with how he is looking at the moment, with a complete lifestyle change as before he was stabled at night on 2 meals now he is out 24/7 on one very basic meal of a scoop of nuts and chaff and he could not look better in himself, Though you guys might disagree!

Before we loaded:

Dressage, as you are all aware, is not our strong point though at Swalcliffe we did make a vast improvement however, I was an idiot and deviated from our carefully constructed warm-up. Why I here you say? Simply because as I said, I am an idiot which caused my horse to get tense which caused a dressage score of 45.8 so one massive slap on the wrist for the rider!

Onto the show jumping where, i just knew after the 1st warm-up fence that it was going to go well, I was actually riding properly with the appropriate leg to hand ratio and Boy was he fantastic! we kept the same rhythm throughout and produced the nicest round to date with another clear in the bag-big pats for the boy!!

Now xc, what a fabulous round, after the success of the SJ I felt slightly more brave to put the leg on and all I can say was WOW! he felt fab, did not pull or lean but just cruised round jumping each fence so well. He was fantastic especially when I landed steep after the roll top which had 4 forward strides to a corner. I just put the leg on and he pushed onwards enabling us to get the 4 strides (pic below!)

Plus another:

So all in all, a very good day, thanks for reading :)

Oooh goody an eventing report. Whoop.

He looks gorgous, so well turned out. You used the time wisely. Lovely write up, that sounds like an awesome time despite a tense dressage. Lovely pics too. 100s look biiiiiiiiiiggggg.

Woohoo on the double clear! 100 looks huge to me too :P. At least you know what went wrong in the dressage, I'm sure next time will be better!

looking super, well done , dressage can be easily improved it is the jumping that counts ( and of course the most fun ) :-))

Definitely, hopefully at the next event i will not deviate from the warm up!

Wow you both look super :) great report. Where are you off to next?

Thank you! we are off to Sapey next hopefully

He's gorgeous, well done!

I feel your pain with the dressage!

It is such a nightmare :D though hopefully we will soon have it cracked!

Everyone knows the jumpings the most exciting bit :P

As much as Chilli and I like to keep our hooves and feet on the ground these days, there's still a part of me that would kill to event and so I really enjoy reading others' reports. Congratulations, you should be so pleased :)

And the most important!

Thank you so much! you never know at the end of the summer, you could also be writing a little ODE report :)

And so it is!

You never know, you could do a one in the summer! Though, I am rather jealous that you can do the dreaded dressage!
