What a day! We met up at the Knot Inn in Rushton Spencer. Only a small field but that made it better for me as I was able to chat to most people there and what a friendly bunch they are. It was only my second time ever and I think Charlie had figured out what this hunting lark was all about so a stronger bit next time I think :)

Although not much jumping (fine with me as the ground was a bit too wet for my liking) there plenty of natural obstacles to tackle. We crossed the River Dane several times and a few points I was up to my anckles in water eek! My best memory of the day was turning around to see the infamous shetland Blackie of HH fame swimming with his young jockey floating! I must say a big thankyou to Blackie's mum as she made sure I was ok when I was being a big wimp at the back. But at least I never fell off and still have my confidence for another day !

Cant wait till my next time out :)

Sounds fun! How small was a small field? 20? 40? If I get on ok with my new horse, I might make a trip up for a day with them.

yep I think it was around 20-25. They are really nice to go out with as they seem to have a policy of never leaving anyone behind and a gate alternative for every jump. I never felt pressured into jumping something I didn't want to.

A very civilised number! I don't like big fields at all, but with that number out even if you were at the back you wouldn't be hanging about waiting to jump. But then again you probably don't do that with the draghounds anyway!

I was the one at the back along the kid on the little shetland :) There are some pics in the photogallery. Were you out then. I've seen some of the pics you have posted of badger(?) and I cant think of who you would have been unless you have got me mixed up with another post?

I was at the meet so you probably saw me and I think I may have had lunch with your husband and been shown photos of your grey arab. If so, he was VERY worried that you were going to enjoy yourself so much that you'd want to go every week and make him drive you!

I'm glad you had a good time. I had one horse with a hole from treading on a nail and my substitute thought it was a good time to get pus in the foot! I hope to be out this week.

That's really funny! He loves it really I think he's going to start going out with the others when I go again. I dont think he has to worry about me going every week as I have the arab to take out and I also work quite a bit at the weekends so just dont have the time. Plus - I was so exhausted I dont think I have the stamina for every week!
