Great Repeal Bill

Not spefically but the Great Repeal Bill was the mechanism by which HA was to be repealed so it does not rule it out and free vote is in the Tory manifesto

Of course it doesnt. Cameron doesnt dare mention it lol lol He is so desperate to be PM look at the ground he has already given to the Lib Dems. The Countryside Alliance are just about to be roggered by Davey boy.

First the defeat, Scratchy. Now the occupation.

Get used to it.

SL it's not about giving ground to any party. Hunting has always been considered a non whipped matter of individual conscience. The LD party has no massive opposition to a free vote on hunting - indeed many of their MPs are pro repeal.

Oh Lord thank you for the general election, which has unseated Paul Holmes Chesterfield (Lib dem) bitter sweet as it has returned to labour. This dear chap was delighted to be sitting on the committee for the drafting of the hunting bill, despite knowing bugger all about it. How do I know? When asked what he was going to do about 'the lads who go out with their lurchers' he truly asked what a lurcher was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lets hope that any discussion in Parliament is fact and knowledge based.

p.s. - curious as to why people bother to respond to scratchline?

If it comes to that I can't think of any better backbencher than the new MP for Carmarthen West & Pembrokeshire South.

I dare say Mike Hobday - PPC and ex-LACS employee - has learnt that hunting is of no concern to the electorate. He stood as a Labour candidate for the Welwyn Hatfield seat - 11% swing to the Tories.

LACS are making much of an article in today's Independent. Given that it's only the opinion of a columnist who thought on Monday that the the Lib Dems had more in common with Labour, perhaps they shouldn't.

"The coalition's initial seven-page prospectus issued yesterday looked meaty enough, but in some ways that was the easy bit. Some tricky issues where the two parties may disagree – such as social care, prison building and fox hunting – have been put off until another day."

Put off until another day? One in July perhaps?

To be fair to the Conservatives, they didn't promise to repeal the Hunting Act per se, they said they would put it to a free vote. I asked my (Con) MP about this when he came canvassing before the election. I would hope that they will still put it to a free vote though despite the coalition. We will have to wait and see. Important though hunting is to us (and I'm as much an avid supporter as anyone), there are much more important national issues to be tackled first
