This morning I went for a ride with a friend of mine from the racing, who lives an hour and a half from me. She knows I'm trying to get my confidence back, and that Big Ears is on a rest at the moment, so she offered for me to go down and ride out with her.

We had such a lovely time :) I rode Earl, who is a cracking racehorse and exceptionally high off the ground (I realised once I'd got on), and my friend rode the stallion Fish. We basically walked for three and a half hours around the country lanes, with a bit of trotting here and there. Earl was a dream, he wasn't bothered by the dog walkers, the bicycles or even the old lady with the zimmerframe who scared me more than him! He was almost the perfect gentleman, apart from when he decided that for no good reason he would chuck in a buck (my worst nightmare)...I think I coped with it quite well, he had a boot and a short tirade of swear words directed at him and I didn't let myself get worked up over it.

It was the perfect way to spend a Sunday :) don't worry, my friend made me work for it - I had to muck out 11 horses whilst she bedded down after me before we could go out riding! Insanely jealous of her right now for getting to look after all those horses for a living! Am eternally grateful that I have friends who are so willing to let me ride their horses and you'll be pleased to hear that my confidence at the moment has rocketed! :D
