I took my Lad on his first outing in 4 months.
We went to a Dressage competition and came 2nd out of 12 with a score of 69.17%. We only did a prelim to get us both back in the swing of things, we have done some Novice test the back end of last year but my horse really doesnt like the cold of winter so I tend to stop competing about November and give him some time off schooling. Once the weather starts to warm up a bit I bring him back into work (March time), this doesnt mean that i dont ride him between these months i just dont school him all the time because he becomes a complete sod so we tend to hack a lot.
I really didnt expect to get places i just wanted him to go and behave because just 5 days before the test he thought canter meant bucking and bouncing round the arena for 10 mins till the novelty wears off.
So all in all a good day was had by all.
