Sorry I didn't have time to post that live coverage of the Eindhoven Derby could be seen at http://www.paardensport.tv
Geoff Billington and Rosinus had a great win with the only clear round of the class. Interviewed during the presentation he said he wanted to thank the Dutch for their horses, first It's Otto, and now Rosinus.
I think it may be possible to see the video in the gallery of the website in due course. The track is longer than the Hickstead Derby - 20 fences if I counted correctly! I watched the Hamburg Derby until the link stopped because of German TV coverage. Will Funnell had a spectacular fall when Mondriaan, who was clear at the time, found himself unable to take off for the vertical immediately after the Derby Bank, shooting poor Will over the fence instead.

I tuned in a bit late to the Hamburg derby so missed Will Funnell's fall - sounds nasty! I saw William Whitaker's round and it was a shame he got quite a few faults, including the fence immediately after the bank and one of the final lines.

Great news about Geoff!

Well done Geoff indeed. My coverage of Hamburg was fairly silent but uniterrupted.Hope Will is Ok, fall looked pretty bad.Michael and Animation jumped a class round and were well placed.Thank you for posting about Hamburg, it was really good to watch.

Agree about Michael and Animation, a maestro at work on a horse he doesn't generally ride in competition. I thought he gave her a bit more pace than William did in the Trial on Friday, and she went better for it.
I'm always glad to spread good news/links. So pleased to have been able to see the Hamburg Derby for the first time.

Yes, they usually do clash. In my opinion it's daft as there are not too many good Derby horses around, and surely each event would attract a higher calibre field if they ran on different dates.

you will all be gratified to hear then that Will Funnell walked away from his fall as when we looked at the photo action sequence one of the photographers got you can see Mondrian gives him a bit of a glancing kick buy actually manged to avoid treading on him properly.
