My cob will eat anything and is a very good doer - ive spent all summer muzzling and strip grazing.
Hes now in at night and last night only ate a quarter of a net in 15 hours!
It was from the last of a bale he previously ate happily.
All our hay is made, stored and supplied by our yo.
Other liveries tried him with bits of theirs this morning - some he wolfed down, some he sniffed and refused!
I have 3 new bales and gave him a handful of each - 2 he turned his nose up, only one did he like.
Why?
Its got me, all my fellow liveries and my yo completeley stumped - he did it last year and i got that embarrassed of asking yo to swap bales because he wasnt eating certain ones i switched to haylage - I dont want to do that this year because he came out of winter far too fat.
Today i made a strong brew of peppermint tea and splashed it on the hay he'd refused last night - hes loving it now!
If i have to do that I will but Im baffled as to why hes refusing some and eating others when its all the same - any ideas?
This is a cob that is food fixated - will normally eat anything !!!
