My friend suggested we put a green ribbon in Monty's tail for Sunday as this will be his first ridden outing

So we just wanted to make sure that green ribbon means novice/young horse.
Is that right?

What party is he going to?
For some comps, eg dressage, use in the warm up but remove before going in the ring

I think green is pretty self explanatory. Green ribbon means green horse i.e. the horse is new to what he is doing so just back off a bit

ETA: If they dont know what it means they are likely to keep their distance anyway just incase.

Yes white is for a stallion.

Or you could be on the safe side and both both red and green in, for the people who don't know which is which...can't go wrong then.

I put red and green in my mare's tail for her first outing

She doesn't often kick but I was worried the shock of everytihg would set her off. When we were in the collecting ring there was a huge gap between us and everyone else - people gave us a huge wide berth!
