Got the greenguards out yesterday as we have such a lot of grass and even with restriction my New Forest mare is developing a crest

Last year she gave herself a massive bump on the nose from her over-zealous eating action which the vet said was a splint and would be with her forever. I felt terrible but without it she would have died as she was so poorly. Luckily over the winter it all but disappeared. Put it on yesterday and whilst trying to fit 2 different shapes to her and our chubster gelding she managed to remove a bit of fur from her nose!! Anyway I took them off and brought them home for technical adjustment in boiling water. Late last night I had a brainwave and put a sheepskin noseband around the noseband having cut a slot for the leather strap to go through the rings (I do find the greenguard headcollar helps keep it in place) which I hope may work!It looks smart and is nice and soft so I will be off to try it later. Funnily enough I looked on ebay as I thought a spare would be useful and in America they actually sell one that fits on the bucket type muzzles. If anyone else has any fab ideas I will be pleased to hear. I am a bit conscious of when it gets wet but sheep dry don't they and as it is natural sheepskin I should be okay
