So after a perfect hack on Monday followed by a chilled out session in his pen, and an almost perfect schooling session yesterday I turned him out in his pen (with company over the fence, a trug of hay, a bucket of water and an electrified perimeter) and left him for a couple of hours . . . received a call from a fellow livery to say that he was galloping round the field bucking and calling . . . sigh.
Judging by the state of his rug (fillet string broken) and the pen (poles bent inwards) I think he got something caught (how, I don't know . . . the poles are four foot high), panicked and pulled . . . the fence came down and he ran off in a panic.
Ugh.
Trotted him up . . . he's fine. Fellow field friends over the fence had completely ignored him (thank goodness).
Z hacked him this morning and he was a numpty . . . apparently they trotted down one track sideways because if she had straightened him up he'd have legged it.
Now I'm wondering if MSM is heating? Any thoughts? It's the only thing that's different from his usual regime . . . he's on minimal hard feed, he has turnout, he's back in work. His hard feed is based on fibre and contains minimal sugars/molasses . . . his hay is good quality but not green.
