My greyhound had a carpal2 injury to his right wrist he has had long rests. Injured in January raced in late May.
Bone fracture heeled but tight scare tissue tore from the bone in the race.

Rested and treated for2/ Month & re-trailed, came of lame with swelling around injury should I call it a day. Has anyone else had this problem where the dog has regained his best performances.

Treatments used Bone Radial, oil and Heat, cold & hot water treatment.

Any suggestions anyone

I don't know anything about dog racing, but I do know that if it was my puppy I wouldn't have her doing anything like racing again, she's too special to me to risk doing herself an injury again.

Since I only have rescue greyhounds (ex racers) I havent had any experience of this sort of injury, but going by what you have describe I wouldnt think it likely that the dog would come sound and regain its previous form TBH.

One of mine had a year off racing and then tried to come back but was never the same, when she had been winning well before then

My dad owns greyhounds for racing. One of the pups we bred and who I brought up and trained injured his wrist while racing. Unfortunately it meant retirement from the track. I think any sort of fracture is going to mean retirement from racing as the corners and jostling for position puts huge strains on their legs and any weakness will be a problem. I'd retire him from the track and let him live a happy life as a pet.

Hi Flamehead,
Yes thats my biggest worry he has come of with swelling
and calling it a day would not be a problem for I do love him and spending the rest of his days touring the fields and beach is not
such a bad thing.

Hi Splotchy.
Although he has swelling his walk was just slight on the right
it could be he's torn the the tissue again but not as server as the first come back a year out might have been a better option for he is a young dog. the clock was good but the welfare of Rock is always with me.

Cheers !!

Hi Kat_and_Basher.
There are a big percentage of dogs that have wrist problems and never come back and that's with out fractures,
So in hindsight the writings on the wall .
LOOKS LIKE ROCKS PUTTING HIS PAWS UP

We have a racing greyhound in with the exact same injury, he was a very expensive greyhound and he was treat through my mams vets, all seemed fine, he healed pretty nicely with lots of rest, but then he was tried on the track again, as the owners really wanted him to race again as he was a very succesful racing dog, but he did even more damage when he was tried back on the track, they have asked our rescue to rehome him to a pet home now.

Hi CALA
He is also a potententialy a good dog still recording a very
good time on his come back. Swelling has gone down a little and
have been advised to treat with ZHENG GU SUSHI the latest linament that penetrates to the bone for FRACTURES if you go
G.B.G.B. you might have herd of his brothers which are doing very well in G1 races
