Please could someone suggest some effective gridwork routines/patterns??

I have tried bounces of 5, from 2' - 2'6'', changed it to 1 stride, 2 stride, some high, some low, but the little monkey still rushes, more so than doing a course!

Can anyone suggest what to do to make him chill a bit?

thanks in advance!

I would skip the grids for now.....put up a single crosspole and circle (20m) so that for part of the circle you are on a good line to jump the cross. When pony trots calmly allow it to jump the crosspole and then repeat on the other rein. If the pony tries to rush just continue round the circle without jumping the fence. Even if it means only jumping every 10th circuit or more. When you can consistently go calmly over the cross in trot try canter...same routine. Rushers are not generally quick fixes so don't expect all this to happen in one session, may take several sessions over months. Once you can canter steadly over the crosspole ride on to a second fence. If that goes ok go resume gridwork. If not just go back to a single crosspole again till calm and then try to ride to the second fence. Basically say to the pony "you don't get to jump unless you go calm".

Really hope that helps and best of luck.

That does help yes. I have been doing circuits then jumping when steady etc, he is fine, goes calm can do sunday course, but then Gridwork is terribly exciting! lol. I was told on here to do grid work, as he is fizzy at competitions, so does anyone else have any ideas?

Thank you though business, I will keep at what we are doing for now
