I really want a pair of grippier gloves for riding but my hands are tiny - children’s age 10-12 years. Have looked in local tack shop with no luck and can’t find anything online. They must be quite thin so I can hold reins plus whip. Any ideas welcome!

Thanks Faracat - never heard of Roeckl . (And what’s happened to the pics of handsome Kasper? They’ve disappeared again from under your posts).

They are nice gloves IMO, so I hope they do the job you want. :)

I don't know why my pics are disappearing. :( Kasper should be in both my signature and avatar... I'll check that I haven't accidentally altered my settings. Here's a little pic for you while I try to figure the forum out! ;)

Thanks! Kasper is the Gregory Peck of the feline world 💓.

I have some Roeckl London Gloves in something like a size 6 (fellow tiny hand person!) & I find them nice & grippy. I've also got some SSG gloves with a suede type material on them & they're really grippy also (they do a massive range of gloves & I think they do kids sizes as well) https://www.ssgridinggloves.com/categories. I've also got a pair of Decathlon Kipwarm gloves in XS & they're very good also (they're my "everyday" do everything in type gloves as they're far less expensive than the others I've mentioned!) but if your hands are REALLY small the fingers may be a teeny bit long (they're JUST ok on me & I have short thumbs & little fingers in particular... still for £12 they may be worth a punt... mine are in their second year of pretty much daily use & doing well) https://www.decathlon.co.uk/kipwarm-adult-warm-gloves-id_8313349.html

My other tip would be to look into something like gummi reins (I've got quite a nice caldene pair that are a lot softer, thinner & more flexible than normal rubber reins) or biothane reins which are very light & very grippy (but ONLY if you have gloves on... with bare hands they're slippery as hell!)

Thanks Boulty! Both the Roeckl and SSG look promising, I’ll go back to the tack shop and try some gloves on so I get the right size before ordering on internet, they are too expensive to get wrong! The Decathlon could be a bit long in the fingers. Don’t have my own horse, use a RS ... but always ride the same one so suppose I could ask if I could ‘donate’ a pair of reins... could be worth it!

Roeckl are lovely, but don't use them with rubber reins and be careful with buckles. I wrecked them in one ride after replacing my reins. They were only a couple of months old. They were very comfy and perfect with other reins though.

If you want lightweight gloves then my favourites are woof wear grand prix gloves. They're cheap online and they last really well.

Or if you want warm ones, which allow you to feel the reins I love the Ariat insulated ones.

I have too many pairs of gloves!

Thanks for the warning Flamenco - these gloves are way to expensive to not take care of! I’ll check out the woof wear gp - my glove collection stands at 1 pair, I foresee it is going to grow ... 😊

These are fantastic. You can keep them on to do all the fiddly buckles - I can even use my phone whilst wearing them. I buy them 50 pairs at a time, as I do wear through the finger tips (nails doing fiddly stuff) of all my gloves. They're cheap as chips. When it's really cold I put a pair of fingerless gloves on top. Grip is superb - better than bare hands. I wear them for carriage driving all year around.

Thanks! They are so cheap it has to be worth trying them 😊

Thanks elliesweet! It’s the bulking between my fingers I find really irritating! I’d gladly swap 7lbs of weight for one size larger hands 😊

Haha yes I know how you feel!! honestly these are the best and they silk in between the fingers so really slim they also come up higher on your wrist for extra comfort!! I cant say enough good things about them :)

My hands are the only part of me that is small. MacWet gloves go quite small. I have size 6.5 but they start at 6. They're nice and thin and grippy and you can choose between a short cuff or a longer one. I like short so I can still see my watch easily but my friend prefers long so there's no gap between her gloves and her sleeves.
