Groaning dog..

Hi

Have a 6yr old Rhodesian ridgeback who everytime he lies down, or shifts position while lying down, groans like he's in pain and is stiff :/ been to vet and has been put on anti-inflammatories...they made little difference.

Was then put on painkillers and these made a difference, however don't want him living on painkillers for the rest of his life.

Has had his hips checked etc..

Any advice?

My 6 yr old GSD groans sometimes when he lays down too, but i would not say it sounds like he's in pain, just groaning really. He does it when he rolls on his back on the coir matting at the front door too.

My girl is a right groaner when she is settling down for the night. I've always thought it is in relaxation.

Barney moans and groans when he's getting settled in bed. He moves, groans and then huffs sounds like an old man but he's only 3!
