I have a 14 hand event pony who sustained a groin injury jumping cross country. I think he did it over the first jump and then completed the Novice 110cms course on it. Ouch!
On completion of the course, he was sound - but once washed off and returned to his stable -his groin was swollen and hot and he was lame. We immediately iced, but he was unable to complete the 3rd day. He was sound again within a few days and the swelling when down within a couple of weeks. We scanned on the 3rd week and could see damage, so he has been rested for two months and I am about to have him scanned again.
Has anyone had a similar injury? how long did you rest your horse for? and did it come back into full work?
any advice or help much appreciated. K
