Hi, this morning, I was rather alarmed to see my horse standing quietly at the back of his stable when usually he is the first out looking for his breakfast lol. The bed was trashed, I think he may have been cast. His offside hind is rather swollen in his groin area (part of sheath too) he cant put much weight on it and isnt keen to move at all. I have been cold hosing it and given him a sachet of bute, is it best I box rest him for a few days, or would you call the vet now.? Advice appreciated.

It sounds like he may be in quite some pain and def do not turn him out. Phone your vet for advise in case he has done something silly

At least you noticed it and called the vet, well done. The bute is an anti-inflammatory and so will take the swelling down quicker and take the pain away.
I hope he is well again soon. Give him lots of cuddles and one from me. x x x

Thanks! he is being very molly coddled at the moment (what's new) lol. I have walked him around today, tempted by a few blades of grass in my hand. So glad I got the vet when I did, he had serum dripping out of his leg this morning, yuk. Never seen a leg so swollen. Anyway, hopefully he will start to come round now.
Cheers everyone.
