Can anyone recommend some good grooming brushes?

I know the Haas brushes are good but quite expensive, I also have fairly small hands

When I worked at the riding school on of the dressage horses had a set that I loved but I can not remember the brand, there as a really densely soft bristled almost like a dandy brush but super soft

I love Oster. They are what I own and always use. But they are USA Western type brushes. I am elderly and have small hands. Oster are easier to grip than UK brushes. I also own two Haas brushes recommended on this forum. I used them on a Spanish horse I used to ride who had fine hair, but on the current ISH I am back to Oster. The only one I dont like is the thicker rubber curry comb. I prefer the cheap flat UK ones that are usually about the yard.

Thank you, I have really bad coordination and found the oster ones much easier to use, I think I might just buy the stiff bristle and the finishing brushes from them as I have a mane and tail brush, combs etc instead of buying the full set

the haas brushes confuse me, what do they all do!?!?
They're just really good quality brushes.
The different brushes for different coloured horses is just a sales gimmick to.get you to spend more- it's absolutely not necessary
I have the Schimmel and two of their body brushes although most if the time I just use the Schimmel.
Don't fall for the marketing , just buy the brushes you need.

I have never bought any grooming brushes as a set. I was a very new rider aged 61. I phoned Rideaway and got chatting to the lady who answered the phone, She owned a horse and I asked her to send me the things she used.
I booked 2 stable management lessons at the RS, to learn how to groom, and then just groomed.

I like nice brushes.
I did fall into the Haas trap and they are nice enough but in reality if you brushed your horse all over 6 or 7 times with any brushes I think the results would be much the same.
Go into a tack shop and pick them up, see which ones feel nice and fit in your hands comfortably!!

I have small hands and hate big brushes but I find the haas schimmel useful and comfortable.

My most favourite brush :) It's the only posh one I have, for the rest I mostly use a mane and tail brush, a shedding blade, and a pair of nubbly grooming gloves. Most of my grooming falls into the "mud scrubbing and coat shedding" category. Then once that's all off I brush with the Haas to make him beautiful and shiny :D
