Can anyone recommend any good books, dvds, trainers, etc for this?

Also, do you do much groundwork with your horse, and has it improved your horse?

I'd take a look at the parelli stuff - They have some good DVDs which I have watched. www.parelli.com. The 'seven games' he uses on the ground have been esp good for my horse.

Also Monty Roberts/Kelly Marks - www.intelligenthorsemanship.co.uk

I use bits and pieces from both of these sources. They have really helped my horse on the ground and have also helped improve his temperament generally when handling. (He was quite aggressive in the stable when I first owned him).

Malaga's not backed yet so we are doing nothing but ground work it shows up how he'll behave if asked to do things under saddle
